Full Description
The PADI Drift Diver Specialty teaches you how to dive safely in ocean
currents, letting yourself glide naturally with the water flow while
maintaining control and stability.
This training is ideal for exploring vast reefs, passes, and drop-offs rich in
marine life in the Belle Mare region, on the east coast of Mauritius.
You’ll complete 2 ocean dives in 1 day, accompanied by theoretical training.
You’ll learn how to plan, execute, and manage drift dives with confidence and
skill.

Specialty Objectives

• Understand the effects of underwater currents
• Use SMB, spool, surface marker buoys, and drift lines
• Plan and conduct drift dives with a buddy or group
• Master entries and exits in current-prone areas
• Optimize buoyancy control in dynamic conditions

Course Content

1. PADI Drift Diver eLearning (personal access provided)
2. Pre-dive briefings on drift-specific techniques
3. 2 drift dives (1 day) on different local sites
4. Practical exercises: current management, safety, communication
5. Educational debriefings after each dive

 Prerequisites

• PADI  Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent)
• Minimum age: 12 years
• Good physical health (medical form required)
• Valid dive insurance (mandatory)

Schedule & Duration

• Duration: 1 day
• 2 drift dives per day
• Start times: 08:30 and/or 11:00
• Session  approximately 2.5 to 3 hours
• Dive sites located about 10 minutes by boat from the dive center

• PADI Drift Diver eLearning theory module
• 2 ocean drift dives with instructor
• Professional PADI-certified supervision
• Full equipment provided:
o Wetsuit, BCD, regulator, fins, mask, weights
• Official PADI Drift Diver certification

• Drinking water available before and after dives

• Transfers hotel ↔ dive center (available on request)
• Dive insurance (mandatory, must be presented or purchased on site)
• Underwater photos/videos (optional extras)
• Personal equipment (can be used if preferred)

 Available Monday to Saturday, year-round
• Advance booking recommended to receive eLearning access in time
• Small group or private sessions available upon request

 What to Bring

• PADI certification and logbook
• Swimsuit, towel, dry clothes
• Eco-friendly sunscreen
• Personal dive computer (optional but recommended)
• Good hydration and rest before diving

• 50% refund up to 48 hours before
• No refund less than 48 hours before or in case of no-show
• Free rescheduling possible in case of bad weather
